About Us

Welcome to Wildlife Sightings

Our goals are to educate people of the biodiversity around them and to document useful data (nature sightings) to aid conservation efforts, contribute to citizen science and to encourage people to enjoy nature. It's hard to conserve and protect something which is undocumented in a region. Contribute sightings and help document species in a region before they are threatened !

Promote your nature club, organization, business and school class. Use our free services to collect and organize sighting data so you can focus on what you do best, leave the technical aspects of data manaegment and publication to us. Don't let your useful data gather dust, publish it here ! Website owners can also embed their sightings using an iframe or xml parser. Click here and view a sample user page/nature club, school class, conservation/citizen science organization, BioBlitz group and eco tourism business.

This website was inspired by a project that occurred in Nova Scotia, Canada from 1900-1923, when a school superintendent started a project called 'The Thousand Eyes project', in which students from across the province gathered wildlife sighting data for the next 23 years, producing a great deal of wildlife sightings which is valueable to this day ! Our webpage address was derived from an acronym JUNP, standing for 'Journal of the UNPublished', as we strive to publish and organize data citizens normally collect for fun but do not make available to the public despite it's tremendous value.
